I refer to my X as Cosmo because after 13 years he told me I wasn’t “cosmopolitan” enough, which was a shock because I didn’t know I was cosmopolitan at all. In fact no one had ever used the word cosmopolitan in a conversation with me so I wasn’t sure that was even socially acceptable.

I like letters, words & language. And books, paper and pens. Dead writers fascinate me because they were usually pretty screwed up and had illegitimate children and affairs and addictions.

I dabble with calligraphy and italic writing. I could sit for hours practicing letter forms and copying quotations.

I like ampersands and lower case g’s, and typefaces like Bodoni and Garamond. Serif with it’s talons and teeth will always kick sans serif’s ass in a typeface showdown.

I often get interested in something like Italy, jazz or herbs and read everything I can about it. I have people fooled into thinking I am smart because I wear glasses and carry books around. In truth I remember .37% of what I read and that is usually in vague and small increments like “struggle meetings” or “Chet Baker was arrested.”

Sometimes I think about munching on my cats’ perfect paws and about how they might taste like cupcakes. At that point my cats usually leave the room in disgust.

I like to bake. I like to sit with a cup of coffee and a piece of pie and say “Damn good cup coffee…and hot!” like they did on Twin Peaks. I can always count on my kids  to get my random references to TV shows or song lyrics.

It reminds me of something one of my ex boyfriends would have said. While wearing his $400 t-shirt and anti-poverty bracelet.

  • I’m so glad you stopped by and left me a comment, so I could come over and see what you’ve written. You are one acerbically funny gal, and I like that! And I totally agree with you about the & symbol, lower case g’s, and serifs! You rock, glad to meet ‘cha!

  • AHHHH! DAMN FINE COFFEE!

I love it when people quote my favorite TV show of all time!

I always wanted to plan a trip to Snoqualmie Falls, WA where the opening credit exteriors for TWIN PEAKS were shot. I hear there is a real Double R Diner where you can get damn fine coffee…hot, too…and cherry pie that is to die for.
